In the mill Roque
Valente SRL located in Santa Cruz, Bolivia only 5 miles from the Brazilian
border there is at this moment a vacancy for an adventurous paid internship.
We say adventurous because at the mill there is a lack of infrastructure
(running water, electricity) and sleeping facilities (all free) are pretty
Spartan. However, the owner himself is from Holland and in the very
beginning (when there was really nothing) he had the opportunity to really
reflect and career orient in general.
Basic questions of
life come up after studying for many years (the owner has a masters’ degree
in marketing and sales). Like in many developed countries young and also
older people are wondering what life is all about. We guarantee that you
will understand this much better after staying in our facilities. Besides,
you will learn many skills useful in every day life such as basic business,
relation with people (Latin American and also poor people that tend to
spend all their money on beer), basic working practices. We are more then
sure that this experience will suite you well on your future curriculum.

What we offer

An unforgettable experience in South
America, specifically Bolivia at a hardwood mill.

Opportunity to intensively speak the
Spanish language, besides some Portuguese since we are located close to the
Brazilian border and Brazilians are also working at our plant

Basics in respect business,
administration, a unique look into the hardwood business in a tropical
country (compared to Africa and Malaysia, Indonesia) and Latin American
practices in general

All round activities, such as exploring
new concessions, production flows and schedules, employee tasks and
control, etc etc. We welcome all new ideas!

In principle we offer a paid
internship, which means that we will spend time in accommodating you in your
complete new environment (this cost time and money) but if things work out
we definitely will pay you a salary according to the market standards (which
is between $400 and $1000,- per month, depending on your skills and
qualifications)
What we require
-
Affinity in the lumber sector is
definitely a pro, the basics of the Spanish language is an absolute
necessity. There is NO English speaking colleague around.

Some computer knowledge (excel, word) is
recommendable.

We prefer applicants to be between ± 28
and 35, we do not discriminate between female or male, however, females may
suffer some unwanted male attention especially during the weekends outside
the mill.
